Free Registered Behavior Technician 3.0 Training Course

This free 40-hour course provides the training required before you can apply to sit the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification exam.

Completing the course gives you the training hours used in the RBT certification pathway. Certification itself also requires a competency assessment and approval from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), which occur after training.

The course also works as a complete introduction to Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). Some learners take it because they plan to become RBTs, while others complete it for professional development or to strengthen experience in education, psychology, support, or care roles. You can complete the entire training for free and decide later whether you want the certificate needed for the RBT exam.

The free course contains all required training hours. To apply for the RBT exam, the BACB also requires an official course-completion certificate.

Important information

Certificates are issued only after a manual review confirming the course was completed independently and within 180 days of starting. Training must be of 40 hours duration or longer.

Certificates are issued by Jigsaw Training and cannot be issued by an employer or supervisor based on this course.

All certificates use the 2026 wording:
“This training programme is designed to meet the 2026 training eligibility requirement for RBT certification. This training is offered independent of the BACB.”

RBT certification is awarded by the BACB. Certification requires both the training certificate and a completed competency assessment, followed by BACB approval. Availability of certification and assessors varies by country and region, so please confirm eligibility in your location before purchasing the certificate upgrade.
