Instructions for Engaging with FRED Bot

Engaging with FRED Bot during the Reading and Reflection Exercise is a valuable opportunity to seek clarification, deepen your understanding of course concepts, and enhance your retention. Here’s how to effectively interact with FRED:

  1. Accessing FRED Bot: Within the Reading and Reflection Exercise section of the lesson, you’ll find a chat interface with FRED Bot. Click on the chatbox to initiate the conversation.
  2. FRED’s Greeting: FRED will initiate the conversation by asking how it can assist you. For example: “Hello! How can I help you today?”
  3. Ask Your Questions: You are encouraged to ask FRED up to six questions related to the course concepts. These questions can be:
    • Clarification Questions: If you need further explanation on a concept discussed in the lesson, feel free to ask. For instance:
      • “FRED, can you explain ‘positive reinforcement’ as if you were talking to an 8-year-old?”

    • Help you Remember: If you?re struggling to remember the characteristics of a concept or just want a memorable way to remember something, you can ask FRED for a rap, song, Limerick or Poem about a concept. We can?t promise that it will be good, but it might help you remember
      • “Fred,  write a Limerick about Functional Communication Training??
      • “Write a Mnemonic to help me remember the features of a behaviour support plan??
  1. Listen and Learn: Carefully read FRED’s responses. FRED is here to assist you in a friendly and informative manner.
  2. Reflect and Apply: After each response from FRED, take a moment to reflect on the information provided. Consider how it connects to the course material you’ve encountered earlier in the lesson.
  3. Continue the Conversation: FRED will remain available to answer your questions and engage in the conversation as long as needed. There’s no need to conclude the conversation unless you’re satisfied with the information provided.
