Getting Started with the Jigsaw RBT Training Course: Your Roadmap to Success

Step 1: Course Enrollment

Your RBT certification journey begins with enrollment in our BACB-compliant RBT training course. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Choose the Jigsaw RBT Training Course: Our course is designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) and aligns with the BACB’s RBT Task List 2.0 requirements.
  • Register and Enroll on our site: Sign up for the course and access the training materials and modules.
  • Set up a BACB account: You?ll need to have a BACB ID number of your course certificate. Sign up for a free BACB account to get your number before you finish the course.

Step 2: Course Completion

The Jigsaw RBT Training Course is structured into modules and lessons, each building your knowledge. Follow these steps to successfully complete the course:

  • Module Selection: Start with the first module and progress sequentially. Each module is divided into lessons.
  • Lesson Progression: In each lesson, engage with the content through video sections, consolidation exercises, and reading and reflection exercises.
  • Complete the Course: Continue through all 10 modules, ensuring you understand and master the RBT concepts outlined in the BACB’s requirements.

Step 3: Competency Assessment

Before you can sit the BACB?s RBT examination, you must first complete an Initial Competency Assessment. The administration of the RBT Competency Assessment is restricted to individuals holding BACB certification (BCaBA, BCBA, or BCBA-D) and having completed the necessary 8-hour supervision training. The Competency Assessment involves the supervisor assessing your competence in 20 competency areas.

  • Find a Qualified Assessor: If your employer is not providing an assessor, you can find one by using the BACB?s database.
  • Book your Assessment: Book your date and prepare for the assessment by revising your RBT course information and practicing the techniques
  • Complete the Assessment: The assessment may involve working with a client, role play and/or an interview designed to give you the opportunity to demonstrate your competence.

Step 4: Book the Exam and Begin Preparation with the Jigsaw RBT Revision Course

You can book your exam through the BACB website. If you?ve passed the Jigsaw RBT Training Course, you will automatically have been accessed to an RBT Revision Guide and an RBT exam Preparation Mini-Course that includes access to up to 20 unique RBT Mock Exams as well as quizzes based on the Task List areas. If you?ve completed your RBT course with another provider, you can still enroll in Jigsaw?s RBT Revision Course and purchase the Revision Guide separately.

  • Book an Exam Date: ?Once you?ve submitted your application through the BACB website, you?ll receive authorization to take the exam which can be booked through the Pearson Vue website.
  • Take the Jigsaw RBT Revision Course: The Jigsaw RBT Exam Revision Mini-Course is divided into lessons based on the Task List areas and items. Learn the key terms and take quizzes on these task list areas.
  • Take the Jigsaw RBT Mock Exam: The official exam is 90 minutes long with 85 question covering Measurement, Assessment, Skill Acquisition, Behavior Reduction, Documentation and Reporting and Professional Conduct and Scope of Practice. Our mock exams are based on a database of over 500 questions. You can take up to 20 unique mock exams to help you prepare for the official test.
  • Read the RBT Revision Guide: Our Revision Guide provides a concise description of all of the key terms you?ll need to understand each task list item.
  • Check out the Free Resources: As part of our Revision Course, we provide you with a curated list of external free resources. You may find these useful when preparing for the exam.

Step 5: RBT Certification Exam

On the day of your RBT exam, remain focused and confident:

  • Arrive Prepared: Bring all required identification and documentation to the exam location.
  • Stay Calm: During the exam, remain composed, pace yourself, and carefully read each question.

Step 6: Celebrate Your Certification

Upon passing the RBT exam, you’ll officially become a Registered Behavior Technician. This achievement represents a significant milestone in your journey to positively impact individuals with special needs.
