Pivotal Response Training (PRT) is an approach sometimes used by behavior analysts. PRT aims to promote adaptive behaviors and improve the learner’s overall quality of life by targeting pivotal behaviors that have a significant impact on their development and functioning. It is important to note that implementing PRT should be done by qualified professionals who are trained in this approach and can tailor interventions to meet the individual needs of the learner. The below video shows three brief clips of a young autistic child. The first clip shows “Peter” with his mom very early in the intervention process. The second shows the boy and his mom during a later PRT session at the University of California-Santa Barbara. And the third shows “Peter” at aged 6.
