Welcome to Module 1 of the Jigsaw Training RBT Course. In this module, you will learn about the science of behavior analysis, the different wings of that science and its scope.
As an RBT, you will be working within the profession of behavior analysis. The purpose of this module is to provide you with a broad overview of the field so that you have the context to understand the concepts introduced within subsequent modules.
Before beginning the course, please review the participant consent form to opt in or out of the research evaluation and complete the pre-test.. More information will be provided on the participant consent page.
Once you have completed the consent form and the pre-test, you will be ready to begin Module 1.
In Lesson 1, you will be introduced to Behavior Analysis as a science of behavior. But what do we mean by ?science? and ?behavior?? And what?s the difference between Behavior Analysis and other sciences that seem to address similar phenomena? By the end of this lesson, you should know the answers to these questions. The two main wings of Behavior Analysis are the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (EAB) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). How do they differ and what is the relationship between these two wings of Behavior Analysis? By the end of this lesson you will know the answers to these questions. The concepts of social significance and social validity are key to understanding Applied Behavior Analysis. In this lesson, you will learn about these concepts and how they relate to our ethical obligations as ABA professionals and paraprofessionals.
People outside of the ABA professional community are frequently surprised by the breath of its scope. In this lesson, you will learn about some of the many applications of behavior analysis. You will also be introduced to the concept of professional competence and we will discuss the importance of operating within roles where you have sufficient competence, training and supervision.
