This training program is based on the Registered Behavior Technician Task List(2nd Ed.) (RBT Task List) and is designed to meet the 40-hour training requirement for the RBT credential. The program is offered independent of the BACB.
Welcome to the Jigsaw Training RBT Course. In this module, you will learn about the science of behavior analysis, the different wings of that science and its scope.
As an RBT, you will be working within the profession of behavior analysis. The purpose of this module is to provide you with a broad overview of the field so that you have the context to understand the concepts introduced within subsequent modules.
Before beginning the course, please review the participant consent form to opt in or out of the research evaluation. More information will be provided on the participant consent page.
Once you have completed the consent form and the pre-test, you will be ready to begin Module 1. Module 1 is designed to help you understand exactly what Behaviour Analysis is. By the end of the Module, you’ll understand all about the science of behaviour, its different wings, its scope and the importance of competence.
In Module 2, you’ll learn about professional certification in ABA. You’ll also learn about the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, the different types of certification and the importance of supervision within the tiered service delivery model.
In Module 1, you learned that ABA involves applying the principles of behaviour to socially significant issues in a socially valid way. In Module 3, we teach you about those principles. This will provide you with a foundation for applying these principles in your work.
In Module 3, you learned about the principles of behaviour. Module 4 describes basic procedures that are based on these principles that can be used to transfer stimulus control and establish new behaviours within a learner’s repetoire.
In earlier modules, you learned that ABA uses data-based decision making. In Module 5, you’ll learn about the different types of data measure and how we summarise that data using graphs.
Congratulations! You have now passed the half way point of this course. Complete the below midpoint test and we will send you an email to let you know how much you have improved since taking the pre-test before starting the course.
In Module 6, you will learn about Functional Behaviour Assessment and Behaviours that Challenge. In this module, you’ll integrate the knowledge you gained in Module 3 and Module 5 to learn about how our knowledge of the principles of behaviour can be combined with data collection methods to identify the reasons why challenging behaviour occurs.
In Module 7, you will learn about the features of a Behaviour Support Plan and how we use Summary Statements and other data from Functional Assessments to identify potential alterations that can be made to a person’s environment in order to decrease behaviours that challenge and increase safer, more contextually appropriate behaviours.
In Module 8, you will learn about Verbal Behaviour, behavioural assessments and some behavioural concepts that we use when examining potential targets within ABA.
In Module 9, you will learn about some commonly used teaching formats/procedures in ABA. These will include Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT), incidental teaching, Natural Environment Teaching (NET), Behavioural Skills Teaching and the Teaching Interaction Protocol. You will also learn about Skill Acquisition Plans and how to prepare for an ABA session.
In Module 10, the final Module of this course, we will look Professional Ethics and the BACB’s RBT Ethics Code (2.0). In order to help you practice ethically, we will also look at some of the key concepts and movements that have affected the practices of those who provide services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Remember to complete your Post-Test once you have completed the final module of this course (Module 10)
